Is low TDS water harmful to the human body?
Low levels of TDS in drinking water are generally not considered harmful for consumption by the human body. Because low TDS water does not contain excess quantities of inorganic compounds like salts, metals, minerals, ions etc., which are unsafe for human consumption.
As per the recommendations of World Health Organization (WHO), the ideal levels of TDS in drinking water can be up to 300 ppm. Beyond this limit, the water will become less palatable and bitter in taste.

What are the ways to reduce or remove TDS in water?
There are 2 main methods of eliminating high levels of TDS from the water:
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most efficient ways of reducing the high levels of TDS in drinking water and making it safe and pure for drinking. The process of RO technique makes use of a semipermeable membrane that lets the water molecules pass through and holds back the dissolved solids.
Distillation
In this method, water is boiled to create water vapours. The water vapours condense back into liquid form at a lower and cooler temperature. As a result of this, the dissolved salts remain in the boiling solution.
